Ammonium Perchlorate is an inorganic compound with the formula NH4ClO4. It is the salt of ammonium and perchlorate. All perchlorates are potentially powerful oxidizers.
Raw Material:
1. Sodium Perchlorate
2. Ammonium Sulphate
3. Ammonium Chloride
Ammonium per chlorate is manufactured by the double decomposition reaction of Sodium per chlorate and Ammonium sulphate or Ammonium chloride.
Ammonium perchlorate produced during the reaction is cooled and the salt is separated.
The separated crude salt is dissolved in D.M. water and re crystallized. Ammonium per chlorate salt is centrifuged, dried and the particle is separated to the required size in the vibro screen.
It is an important oxidizer used in solid rocket propellants known as ammonium perchlorate composite propellants (APCP). Uses include the Space Shuttle Solid Rocket Boosters, as well as many other solid rockets including some fireworks, amateur and hobby high powered rockets, and larger rockets used for space launch and multipurpose.
